Established in 1986 by partners Kevin DeWalt and Ken Krawczyk, Minds Eye Entertainment is now one of Canada's most prolific independent production and distribution companies, internationally recognized for its commitment to distinctive film and television product. The company had its start producing corporate video projects, and owned the first Betacam SP editing suite and Betacam SP camera package in Saskatchewan. The partners soon wanted to branch out into something more challenging, and tried their hand at drama.
With no provincial film agency, they got their start through a joint venture program between the NFB and the provincial government and produced their first half-hour drama called The Great Electrical Revolution in February 1991.

From there, the list of film and television productions has grown enormously. Enlisting top talent and participating in international co-production partnerships in the U.S. and worldwide, Minds Eye Entertainment has produced television movies and feature films such as The Unsaid with Academy award nominee Andy Garcia, Eli’s Lesson with Oscar winner Jack Palance, Viva Las Nowhere with James Caan, Murder Seen with Golden Globe nominee Timothy Bottoms, Something More with Tom Cavanaugh, The Lost Daughter with Richard Chamberlain, Falling Angels with Academy award nominee Miranda Richardson, and Prairie Giant: The Tommy Douglas Story, with a stellar cast of Canadian award-winning talent.

Minds Eye Entertainment produced the prime time drama series Just Cause for W Network/Pax TV; the action/adventure youth series 2030CE for YTV; the travel/adventure series My Global Adventure for Life Network; MythQuest, a drama series for PBS, CBC and Showcase; and co-produced the enormously successful Incredible Story Studio with Vérité Films for YTV and Disney UK.

Minds Eye Entertainment’s productions have earned awards and accolades around the world at the Gemini Awards, the Genie Awards, the Banff Television Festival, the Alliance for Children and Television Award of Excellence, the New York Children’s Festival and the Chicago Children’s Festival.
