December 6, 2001 -- (Regina/Toronto) While hang-gliding over the Great Wall of China, Asia Nelson marvels at how far she has come. As the spirited traveller on the new adventure series My Global Adventure, she will explore a staggering 24 countries within eight months and will savour exotic cultures, discover primitive traditions and triumph over extreme physical challenges. And tomorrow she just may spend a day as a taxi driver in Havana - it's all in a day's work on My Global Adventure.

Created and produced by Minds Eye Entertainment, the 26 half-hour travel adventure series is slated to premiere on Friday, January 11, 2002 at 10 p.m. ET on Life Network.

Over the course of 26 episodes, Anastasia ("Asia") Nelson embarks on a life-changing journey by exploring the exotic, primitive and fascinating traditions and customs of the world, far from her own North American roots. From visiting an ancient tannery in Morocco; octopus hunting off the coast of Sicily; paragliding in the French Alps with a charming British guide to visiting a Holocaust survivor in the Czech Republic, Asia's personal experiences are documented for television broadcast on Life Network and for the Internet on the accompanying interactive website www.myglobaladventure.com.

My Global Adventure adventurist Asia Nelson was born and raised in Rocky Mountain House, a community two hours north of Calgary, Alberta. An energetic and courageous spirit, she has dreamed about traveling around the world since she was a small child.

"It's hard to believe that I am half way around the world, experiencing things I would have never imagined," says Asia. " Each day brings a new adventure, new people and new cultures -- I am already a changed person as a result of this journey."

Created and produced by Kevin DeWalt of Minds Eye Entertainment, the series was inspired from his experiences traveling abroad in his early twenties.

"Having done this trip 20 years ago and traveling for over 3 years throughout the world, I know exactly what transformation Asia Nelson is going through mentally, physically and emotionally," says DeWalt. "My hope for the series is that people can see and learn about the world, its different cultures and people so we all have a better appreciation that we are one human race."
