Minds Eye Entertainment & PRODUCTION PARTNERS EARN TWO GEMINI AWARD NOMINATIONS IN CHILDREN’S & YOUTH CATEGORY

September 25, 2002 (Regina, SK)Minds Eye Entertainment, the largest privately held film and television production company in Western Canada has received two Gemini Award nominations for the children’s television series Incredible Story Studio and Mentors. Both series are nominated in the category for Best Children’s or Youth Fiction Program or Series. The nominations were announced at the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television press conference this afternoon in Toronto. The Gemini Awards gala will be broadcast on Monday, November 4 at 8pm ET on CBC TV.

A co-production between Vérité Films, Minds Eye Entertainment and Merlin Films Group, Incredible Story Studio is the one-of-a-kind series where kids’ stories from around the world are made into MOVIES. Created by Virginia Thompson and Robert de Lint of Vérité Films, the series showcases stories written by kids living in over eight different countries. Each half-hour episode adapts one Canadian and one European story into 10 minute, live action TV dramas. Seen in 450 million households worldwide, the series is designed to take kids on a world tour of creativity and imagination. Incredible Story Studio has previously earned the Gemini Award in this category and its’ fifth and final season was broadcast on YTV, CBC Television in the spring of 2002. A co-production between Anaid Productions and Minds Eye Entertainment, the award winning children’s series Mentors follows the adventures of young computer genius Oliver and his friend Dee as they zap historical figures into their 21st century lives via an ingenious computer program. Each mentor is called upon to help the kids solve a particular challenge they’ve encountered. Along the way, the mentors reveal surprising, little-known facts about themselves, adding new hues to their already colourful lives.
