SWEEP CATEGORY AND CRAFT NOMINATIONS AT SHOWCASE 2002

with 13 individual category nominations and 24
craft nominations
November 8, 2002 (Regina, SK) – Minds Eye Entertainment and
its production partners are pleased to announce a total of 37
nominations at this year’s Showcase Awards. Hosted by the Saskatchewan
Motion Picture Industry Association (SMPIA), Showcase 2002 marks the celebration
of the Saskatchewan’s film, video and new media industry by presenting
professional development seminars, workshops, networking sessions, screenings
and receptions. Showcase will take place from November 14-16, 2002 in Regina.

The Saskatchewan Motion Picture Association (SMPIA), is committed to the intrinsic cultural and economic value of Motion Picture and works to create and advance opportunities for the production, promotion and appreciation of motion picture in Saskatchewan.
Both Prairie Berry Pie and Incredible Story Studio will be screening at 11:40am and 12:10pm respectively on Saturday, November 16th at the Regina Public Library Film Theatre.

Virginia Thompson and Robert de Lint founded Vérité Films in 1994 to develop Incredible Story Studio. They developed the series by pitching the concept of “kids telling their own stories on TV” to over 6,000 school kids across Canada, producing the series pilot, and writing the scripts for the first six episodes of the series. Vérité Films entered into a co-production with Minds Eye Entertainment to produce ISS which has won over 40 international awards, including a Gemini Award for Best Children’s or Youth Program (2000) since the series was first broadcast 5 years ago.
Moose Jaw Light & Power is a creative powerhouse based on the expertise of its three principals -- Geoffrey Ursell, Barbara Sapergia, and Ken Mitchell -- who have national and international television, radio, theatre, and publishing credits. Ursell and Sapergia are co-creators of Prairie Berry Pie, and all three have written for the show.
