Released: May 20, 1999
(REGINA) In sharp contrast to the downsizing trend among Canadian businesses, Minds Eye Entertainment continues to expand its operations, opening new offices and enhancing its human resources.
The company recently announced the opening of its first U.S. office, located in Los Angeles. Minds Eye Entertainment' head office is in Regina: offices are also located in Edmonton and Vancouver.
Growth at Minds Eye parallels the escalation of activity in Saskatchewan's motion picture industry overall. According to the Saskatchewan Motion Picture Association (S.M.P.I.A.), in 1998 production topped the $50 million mark; in 1999, production levels are anticipated to exceed $70 million.
Kevin DeWalt, CEO and Executive Producer at Minds Eye Entertainment, is encouraged by his company's continued growth and is confident that he and his partners ( Rob King - President of Creative Affairs, Ken Krawczyk - Vice President, Production and Josh Miller - Vice President, Development) are putting the right people in place to take Minds Eye Entertainment into the new millennium.
"We're pleased to have attracted such a high calibre of motion picture professionals, many of whom made the move to Saskatchewan from much larger centres.
In many ways, that says 'this is the place to be' when it comes to filmmaking," says DeWalt.
Lanis Anthony joins Minds Eye Entertainment as Vice President - Communications. As the former CEO of a successful advertising & public relations firm specializing in motion picture publicity, Anthony will now head Minds Eye's internal communications department.
Shawn McGrath, formerly of Vancouver, assumes the role of Supervisor - Business Affairs. Educated in law, McGrath will concentrate on the administration of Minds Eye's motion picture projects, from development through production and delivery.
Edmonton's Franco Dottor made the move to Regina to become Production Controller, overseeing Minds Eye projects currently in development and production. Dottor is a seasoned production accountant, with experience on projects for Disney, Atlantis Films, ABC Television, Showtime and HBO.
Roma Roth takes on the position of Production Executive in Minds Eye's L.A. office. In the early 90's, Roth produced an award-winning documentary and went on to Montreal-based Taurus 7 Film Corporation. For Minds Eye, she is tasked with increasing the company's exposure in the U.S. market, as well as attracting service and co-productions.
At Minds Eye International, the distribution arm of the company, Roxanna Humphreys will utilize her multi-lingual talents in the position of Internal Administration. Humphreys will serve international and national clients as a contract liaison.
Established in 1986, Minds Eye Entertainment is a fully integrated production, post-production and distribution entity. Its award-winning television series, made-for-television movies and feature films have been sold to more than 100 countries.
