Imagination and technology collide in Mentors, an innovative half-hour series premiering on Family on Sunday, January 2 at 6:30 pm ET/PT. Featuring a stellar line-up of guest stars, Mentors follows the adventures of two teenagers, Oliver and Dee, who discover a way to transport legendary historical figures into the present. From Napoleon and Oscar Wilde to Cleopatra and Joan of Arc, Oliver and Dee call upon many famous personalities to mentor them through the challenges of their lives.
Produced by Anaïd Productions and Minds Eye Entertainment and filmed on location in Edmonton, Alberta, Mentors was the recent recipient of a 1999 Alliance for Children and Television Award of Excellence for Best Drama. Targeted to a family audience, the series features Chad Krowchuk (“Jake and the Kid”) as Oliver Cates, a 15-year-old computer genius who invents Visicron, an amazing computer technology that has the ability to zap famous figures into the present for 36 hours. Sarah Lind (“Incredible Story Studio”) also stars as Dee Sampson, Oliver’s 15-year-old best friend.
A distinguished group of actors brings the mentors to life, including Henry Czerny as Ludwig van Beethoven; Saul Rubinek as Napoleon Bonaparte; Michael Sarrazin as Edgar Allan Poe; Elliot Gould as Albert Einstein; Matt Frewer as Dr. Frederick Banting; Len Cariou as Alexander Graham Bell; Lisa Jakub as Joan of Arc; Thomas Cavanagh as Lewis Carroll; Simon MacCorkindale as Oscar Wilde; Brian George as St. Nicholas; Sandra Caldwell as Harriet Tubman; Ellie Harvie as Cleopatra and Roddy Piper as Daniel Boone.
The first 13 episodes of Mentors will air on Family every Sunday at 6:30 pm ET/PT (7:30 p.m. in Alberta), starting January 2, with an encore each following Friday at 6:00 pm ET/PT (7:00 p.m. in Alberta).
Created by Josh Miller of Minds Eye Entertainment, Mentors is executive produced by Kevin DeWalt of Minds Eye and co-produced by Josh Miller of Minds Eye and Margaret Mardirossian of Anaïd Productions.
