NOSTRADAMUS FORESEES MORE MENTORS

(EDMONTON) After winning the 1999 Alliance for Children and Television Award of Excellence and nine 2000 Alberta Film and Television Awards, it was an easy prediction that Mentors would see another exciting season of family television!

Anaid Productions and Minds Eye Entertainment are pleased to announce the cameras are rolling once more as Mentors begins filming 13 episodes in and around Edmonton. Kicking off the first Mentors of the new millennium is none other than Nostradamus, portrayed by Kim Coates (Battlefield Earth, Waterworld) and directed by Fred Frame (Incredible Story Studio).

"The adventures of having to wrangle a famous historical figure in present time is entertaining in itself,"says producer, Margaret Mardirossian. "That coupled with high quality stories and performances makes Mentors must-see TV for the whole family."

"Mentors is the little series that could," says producer/creator, Josh Miller. "Beginning with a pilot episode in 1997, we produced five more episodes in 1998 and seven more episodes in 1999 to get us to a full season of thirteen episodes. This year, for the first time, we have a full second season order from Family Channel, who have been airing the existing episodes throughout the week. Mentors is on a roll!"

Mentors follows the adventures of young computer genius Oliver and his friend Dee as they zap historical figures into their 21st Century lives via an ingenious computer program. Each mentor is called upon to help the kids solve a particular challenge they've encountered. Along the way, the mentors reveal surprising, little-known facts about themselves, adding new hues to their already colourful lives. In this week's episode, entitled Seer and Now, Dee is plagued by a recurring dream which she is convinced is a sign of things to come - so she calls on the "Most Accurate Seer of the Millennium", Nostradamus. The wise doctor realizes the dream is not a premonition but a product of Dee's anxiety over Oliver leaving home to start university. By interpreting Dee's dream, Nostradamus shows her that our destiny is in our own hands.

Mentors was created by Josh Miller of Minds Eye Entertainment who is producing the series with Margaret Mardirossian of Anaid Productions with Kevin DeWalt of Minds Eye Entertainment as Executive Producer. The series features Chad Krowchuk (Jake and the Kid) as Oliver, Belinda Metz (So Weird) as his mother Anne, Shaun Johnston (Jake and the Kid) as his father Roy, and Sarah Lind (Incredible Story Studio) as his best friend, Dee.

"Mentors has really benefited from a great cast," Miller states. "Our recurring lead characters played by young Chad and Sarah have themselves have been mentored by our fabulous guest stars - among them Len Cariou, Saul Rubinek, Simon MacCorkindale, Henry Czerny, Matt Frewer and Michael Sarrazin. The mentoring never ends on Mentors."

Mentors from the first season include Albert Einstein (Elliott Gould), Alexander Graham Bell (Len Cariou), Joan of Arc (Lisa Jakub), Lewis Carroll (Thomas Cavanagh), Napoleon Bonaparte (Saul Rubinek), Oscar Wilde (Simon MacCorkindale), St. Nicholas (Brian George), Harriet Tubman (Sandra Caldwell), Cleopatra (Ellie Harvie), Ludwig van Beethoven (Henry Czerny), Daniel Boone (Roddy Piper), Frederick Banting (Matt Frewer) and Edgar Allen Poe (Michael Sarrazin) .
