Lullaby for Pi
Rupert Friend, Clémence Poésy and Academy Award-winner Forest Whitaker star in Benoît Philippon’s directorial debut Lullaby for Pi produced by Forecast Pictures and Minds Eye Entertainment.
Jean-Charles Lévy and Kevin DeWalt produced alongside Christine Vachon of Killer Films. The film was co-produced by Frédérique Dumas of Studio 37.
Sam (Rupert Friend) is a reclusive and complicated man whose only friend is George (Forest Whitaker), the compassionate and well-intentioned manager of a downtrodden New York City hotel.
Once a promising jazz musician, Sam now spends his nights secluded in a hotel room in an attempt to reconcile the death of his beloved wife Josephine (Sarah Wayne Callies) until an unexpected visitor rushes into his room and locks herself in his bathroom. As mysterious as her mathematical moniker, Pi (Clémence Poésy) takes Sam on a journey of self-discovery through the door of the hotel room bath.
Newcomer Matt Ward stars as William, Sam’s young protégé.
The screenplay was authored by director Benoît Philippon who was joined on set by cinematographer Michel Amathieu. Amathieu’s masterful work sets the film apart from others of the genre.
With over 40 credits to his name, Amathieu worked closely with the key creative personnel to ensure a seamless transition of Philippon’s vision from page to screen.
Acclaimed composer George Acogny (Rabbit Proof Fence, Blood Diamond) provided original composition and served as music supervisor.
